Do I have to meet with a provider in-person before a visit can be conducted via video?
In many states, it is not necessary for the doctor/patient relationship to be established in person. However, a prior in-person visit is a requirement in other places like Texas. In Minnesota, the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (MBMP) announced that the provider and the patient do not have to meet in person to establish the relationship.
Will insurance pay for my video visits?
Many do. Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) programs will cover telehealth services in the same manner as any other benefits. Coverage will not be limited to geography or location and applies to services provided via telehealth. Ask your insurance provider for clarification.
